National Park Free Days 2023: It’s never a bad idea to visit one of America’s beautiful national parks, and it’s even better if you can do it for free.
Fortunately, the National Park Service will be waiving entrance fees for several days in 2023 at all parks across the nation. These free days, which are available from January through November, fall on public holidays and significant anniversaries.
The NPS stated on its website that “national parks are America’s best concept” and that there are more than 400 parks that are open to the public every day. The fee-free days offer a fantastic chance to explore a new location or an old favorite. Particularly one of the national parks that often has an entrance price.

In 2023, free entry days are:
- Jan. 16 – Birthday of Martin Luther King Jr.
- April 22 – The week of National Parks begins today.
- Aug. 4 – Great American Outdoors Act, Anniversary
- Nov. 11 – Veteran’s Day
On days when admission is free, parks also eliminate amenity and user fees for items like camping, transportation, and special excursions.
The majority of national parks are always free to visit, however, some of the most well-known ones do have entrance fees. Denali National Park & Preserve in Alaska, the Grand Canyon in Arizona, Yosemite in California, the Everglades in Florida, the Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park, Acadia in Maine, the Badlands in South Dakota, and other parks charge admission.

In addition to cost-free days, the National Park Service (NPS) offers an annual pass for $80 that allows holders. To unrestricted access to more than 2,000 federal recreation areas, including all national parks that ordinarily impose an admission fee.
